Total Promotions have joined forces with Tri Ferris Events to expand and develop an already impressive event calendar. The team of key volunteers have been involved in triathlon and duathlon, both as competitors and organisers, since the late 1980s. Our events roster has included the BBC televised BUPA Bath Triathlon, the Ironbridge Ironman and the 220 Fairford Duathlon. We are all passionate about the sport and our aim is to host good quality, value for money events for all abilities from internationals to first time competitors.
Race Organiser – Debbie Gunning
. Debbie competed at International level in athletics and road running. She competed for Great Britain on 12 occasions and won National medals from 800m on the track to 10mls on the road. During her road running career she won a number of classic races that included the ‘Bath Half Marathon’ and ‘Fleet Half’. Her experiences racing around the World and on the roads has given her a great understanding of what makes an event work for both the competitor and spectator alike. Lorraine organised races with 220 Magazine from 1988 to 1999, including National Triathlon Championships, Ironman distance events and several National Duathlon Championships and was Race Director of the 220 Swindon Triathlon in 1995 with a field of 950 competitors. She worked for 220 magazine between 1989 and 2000 in a variety of roles including being editor for a while. Organiser of Swindon Duathlon and Cotswold Triathlons from 2000, both have been National status events, a technical official at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, only Female Field Of Play Manager at the 2012 London Olympic Triathlon, helped to set up a system of draftbusters in the UK and a current BTF South West Technical Officer. If you couple Debbie’s knowledge with Lorraine’s huge experience they will form a formidable duo.
Assistant Organisers and Bike Directors – Trevor Gunning & Kevin Ferris
Trevor was the founder of ‘Total Fitness’ the first triathlon specialist store in this country. He competed at triathlon from sprint to Ironman distance and alongside Kevin competed in the first ever Roth Ironman and then the same year they travelled together to Hawaii. Trevor worked with 220 Magazine on many of their ground breaking events in the late eighties and nineties. He was also Race Director for the World Championships in Manchester. Although not working within triathlon since selling ‘Total Fitness’ in 1998 he will be known to many competitors for the swim race briefings that he does at Tri Ferris events. Kevin helped to design the route for the first ever Ironman distance event in the UK (at Cirencester in 1990), and was also the Communications Director for that event. He has helped behind the scenes in the build up to many 220 events and has competed in major events around the world including the first ever ITU World Championships in Avignon. He has also been a member of the British Long Distance Elite Squad. A three times Hawaii Ironman finisher, Kevin now competes less often and can therefore spend more time helping with organisation.
